Bangladesh gear up for Afghanistan
Dakar: Bangladesh will begin their training on Friday ahead of next month’s Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
The players, having rested for nearly three weeks, are set to return to action when they play their first match of the Asian Qualifiers against Afghanistan on September 10 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Head coach Jamie Day has made several changes to the 25-member preliminary squad from the one that defeated Laos in the first round of the Asian Qualifiers, adding six players and one new face.

“The national football team will start training in Dhaka from August 23 before they leave here for Tajikistan on September 1 as part of their preparation for the match against Afghanistan,” said Bangladesh National Teams Committee chairman Kazi Nabil Ahme.
“As Afghanistan chose Tajikistan as their home venue, we have decided to send the national team to Tajikistan for their preparation to acclimatise them with the weather, altitude and the artificial pitch.”
Bangladesh, however, will start the training camp without seven Abahani Limited Dhaka players, who are involved in the AFC Cup Inter-Zone Semi-finals against DPR Korea’s 4.25 SC on Wednesday and August 28.
The full squad will play two practice matches against Tajikistan Premier League clubs on September 3 and 5.
